Alcohol and how it relates to depression.Alcohol and how it relates to depression: A lot of different things can affect depression. These things can either make depression less or make it greater for a person.

Alcohol is one thing that hurts the symptoms of depression by making them stronger. Alcohol turns a person into someone they do not like, of course at first alcohol makes a person feel good. It might even loosen the sadness and negative thoughts related to depression but it also can hinder a person in the aftermath.

Alcohol is used as a deterrent from everyday stress, most people get together at weekend barbeques, Super Bowl Sundays and even for a late night out on the weekends to have a few drinks and just loosen up. Other people have more than just a few drinks however, they are constantly staying drunk and some of those people are more than depressed than ever without any clue on how to get help for themselves.

When depression becomes a part of a person’s life, they become miserable, fatigued, strained, stressed, heartbroken, sad and even suicidal. Adding alcohol to that equation only helps add more risks of suicide and other acts of violence. A person feels a loss of control over their life leaving them vulnerable to desperate acts such as cheating on their spouses, stealing from a love one or store an subjecting theirselves to drug use.

Being depressed in a part of life that most people have a hard time overcoming. While it true that we all generally have bouts of depression, some people live with the harshness of depression every single day of their lives without a reprieve.

If you or someone you loved has depression or has moments of depression that is not going away then contacting your family doctor would be the first place to start for help. However, if you do not have a family doctor, talk to someone who can help. There is always someone willing to help another person out.
