disorder

disorderThere are literally hundreds of disorders out there and to be able to name them all in one article would be completely impossible. Here are some that are most commonly heard of that can occur through one’s life.

Mental Disorders:

  • Anxiety disorder – such as Phobias, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, agoraphobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Delusional Disorder, Eating Disorders, Sleep Disorders
  • Major Depressive Disorder – is most common, can affect a person through multiple issues such as their eating, sleeping, relationships and even while they are working. Typically it affects a person’s ability to concentrate and ultimately can depress a person so much they start having suicidal thoughts.
  • Tic Disorders such as Tourette’s syndrome, Pyromania, and Kleptomania
  • Dysthmia – this disorder makes a person feel mildly depressed for several days but is not as severe as some other disorders.
  • Seasonal Affective Disorder - also known as Bi-polar disorder
  • Postpartum Depression – happens to women after the birth of a baby, typically ranging anywhere from a few weeks after a birth until the baby is 2-3 months old.

Disorders come by the dozens and they can be very hard for a person to live within life. They can affect the way a person eats, sleeps and just their basic life. Symptoms such as a racing heart, depression, feeling down, lack of self-esteem, insomnia, feeling fatigued, irritability, panic attacks, fear of dying, suicidal thoughts, weight loss, weight gain, headaches, muscle pain, and tension are all signs of some sort of mental disorder. While it is true that some of these symptoms can be defined through the stress of daily life it always a good option to talk to someone about what symptoms concern you.

If you are feeling depressed for more than two weeks and it is not getting any better than it is time to talk to someone, it is a good idea to contact your family doctor.
